After six days of intense competition, the VICTOR China Open 2025—part of the BWF World Tour Super 1000 tournaments—concluded on July 27 at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Center. Team China delivered a commanding performance, securing all four gold and silver medals in the men's singles, women's singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles even before the finals began. By the end of the tournament, China wrapped up its campaign with a total of four golds and four silvers.
In the all-Chinese men’s singles final, Shi Yuqi rallied to beat surprise finalist Wang Zhengxing in a spirited match, 14–21, 21–14, 21–15. Leveraging his experience, Shi secured his fourth title of the season and completed a rare sweep of all four BWF World Tour Super 1000 events.
The women’s singles final saw Wang Zhiyi successfully defend her title with a commanding 21–8, 21–13 victory over compatriot Han Yue. Wang's precise lobs and smashes helped her take early leads, while errors accumulated on Han’s side.
China claimed two doubles gold medals in hard-fought all-Chinese finals. Top seeds Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping retained their mixed doubles crown with a 23–21, 21–17 win over Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin.
In women’s doubles, Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning outlasted Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian 24–22, 17–21, 21–14 in a 69-minute battle, securing their third consecutive title.
The only non-Chinese victory came in the men’s doubles, where Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri defeated Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik 21–15, 21–14 in just 35 minutes.
The tournament drew nearly 30,000 spectators from across the country to the venue in Changzhou. Merchandise and fan gear featuring local cultural landmarks—such as China Dinosaurs Park, Tianning Pagoda, and Cultural Plaza—proved especially popular, reflecting both the event’s widespread appeal and the successful fusion of “sports + cultural tourism.” By leveraging its rich regional culture and deep integration with a world-class sporting event, Changzhou has not only enhanced its brand as a vibrant city but also set a compelling example of how international tournaments can reflect and amplify local identity.
