On March 10, Mayor Zhou Wei met with a delegation from Ankang City led by Zhang Xiaoping, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Ankang Municipal Committee and Mayor of Ankang. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on deepening partnership cooperation and promoting mutual development.
Mayor Zhou welcomed Zhang Xiaoping and his delegation, congratulating Ankang on its economic and social achievements. He noted that since the establishment of the city partnership, Changzhou and Ankang have worked hand in hand on the path toward high-quality development, strengthening their ties with each passing day.
As Changzhou enters the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the city government will continue to implement the important guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping on deepening east–west collaboration. Building on the strengths and development needs of both regions, Changzhou aims to further unlock cooperation potential and expand exchanges. With new tasks, goals, and models of collaboration ahead, the city will continue to improve its working mechanisms, foster closer interaction and integration, and achieve more coordinated, mutually beneficial development.
Zhang Xiaoping outlined Ankang's achievements in economic and social development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, and expressed sincere gratitude for Changzhou's longstanding support and assistance. He noted that in recent years, the paired cooperation between the two cities has delivered remarkable results, jointly forging a new path of sustainable and in-depth east–west collaboration.
During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Ankang will focus on selenium-rich industries, eco-tourism and wellness, and green manufacturing, accelerating the development of a modern industrial system with distinctive local characteristics and fostering new quality productive forces tailored to local conditions. Mayor Zhang expressed the hope that Changzhou will continue to provide stronger support in areas such as industrial transfer, labor cooperation, and the integration of culture and tourism, so as to generate more tangible outcomes from such collaboration.
Ankang, a prefecture-level city in northwestern China’s Shaanxi Province, is known for its lush landscapes, clean air, and high forest coverage. Its economy is built around environmentally friendly industries, including selenium-rich agriculture, eco-tourism, and green manufacturing. In recent years, the city has paired with Changzhou under China's east-west collaboration initiative, which is part of a broader national strategy to promote more coordinated regional development. In this partnership, Changzhou provides experience, resources, and technical guidance to Ankang, helping it accelerate industrial, economic, and social development.
