Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, together with other departments, announced the eighth batch of provincial-level traditional villages in Jiangsu, with Shenxijie Village in Daibu Town, Liyang, and Sanxing Village in Zhulin Town, Jintan, selected.

Shenxijie is a natural village under Hengjian Village's administration. Its name, meaning “Deep Creek Gorge,” derives from its location in a remote mountain gorge with a creek running through it. Today, Shenxijie retains its original rural charm while introducing cultural and tourism features such as homestays, cafés, art galleries, and nature-based attractions. Thanks to its unique landscape and comprehensive tourist facilities, it has become a popular travel destination.

Sanxing is home to the Sanxing Village archaeological site, dating back approximately 6,500 to 5,500 years. The site spans from the Neolithic Majiabang culture to the Songze culture and has yielded over 4,000 precious artifacts, including pottery, jade, stone, and bone tools. In November 2024, construction of the Sanxing Village Archaeological Site Park officially began, and this year the site was included in the national list of archaeological parks.
