Recently, the electrochromic (EC) materials project of Lannray has signed an agreement to settle its new factory in the Binjiang Economic Development Zone of the Changzhou National High-Tech District (CND). The project, with a total investment of one billion yuan, has a planned area of 5.2 hectares.

Lannray, founded in 2015 in Silicon Valley, specializes in solid-state polymer EC systems that offer high contrast and thermal stability for automotive and consumer electronics applications. As the inventor of organic flexible electrochromic light-tuning technology, the company boasts multiple original patents. In 2021, Lannray established its R&D headquarters and manufacturing base in China, providing products to the global market. In August last year, its smart EC light-tuning thin film project settled in the CND Changzhou.

For Lannray, the project newly signed holds the key to realizing the mass production of smart glass. It addresses the critical barrier of supply shortage that has historically limited the domestic EC materials industry. The project will also give Changzhou a competitive edge in the new materials sector.

In the first quarter of 2026, the CND generated an output value of 79.17 billion yuan in six major fields, (new energy vehicles, new materials, new bio-medicine and new-generation IT, smart energy and smart equipment), up by 5.6% year-on-year, among which new materials sector grew by 7.8%.
