On May 18, the Changzhou Cancer Center was officially launched, marking a major step forward in the city’s efforts to build a coordinated and integrated cancer prevention and treatment system. The new center, based at the Changzhou Cancer Hospital, has been jointly established by the hospital and the Changzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention. It will serve as a central hub in the city’s fight against cancer, connecting every stage of care—from prevention and screening to diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.
The initiative reflects a growing recognition that cancer control is a long-term public health challenge requiring unified resources and coordinated action. By leveraging its clinical expertise in oncology, Changzhou Cancer Hospital will collaborate with medical institutions across the city to create a streamlined, full-cycle service network. The goal is to standardize, unify, and refine cancer prevention and treatment practices—strengthening the "first line of defense" through early screening while ensuring that the "last mile" of treatment is delivered with compassion and dignity.
In a significant move toward research and innovation, the hospital also signed a cooperation agreement on the same day with Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center. The partnership is part of a national key R&D program under China’s 14th Five-Year Plan, focusing on the clinical application of domestically developed radiotherapy equipment. The collaboration aims to advance the precision and technological capabilities of radiotherapy in China, further supporting the development and deployment of homegrown cancer treatment technologies.
