The online finals of the international division of the 2025 World Vocational Colleges Skills Competition concluded recently, with the team organized by Changzhou College of Information Technology winning the gold medal.

This year's competition attracted 1,446 contestants from 73 countries, forming 434 teams that competed fiercely across 38 professional tracks.

The Changzhou team competed in the project "Digital Design and Manufacturing of an Integrated Cryogenic Ball Valve," focusing on real-world valve applications in liquid hydrogen transmission at ultra-low temperatures (–253°C). The team applied reverse-engineering techniques and innovatively introduced an integrated, lightweight shell-segment design, completing a redesigned and optimized version of the ball valve.

The project not only ensured the soundness of the product's design but also incorporated structural optimization and innovation, laying a solid foundation for subsequent virtual assembly stages.

According to reports, before the product entered actual manufacturing, the team's students conducted rigorous digital simulations and analyses of the cryogenic ball valve using advanced computer-aided engineering software. This technology can shorten the typical product development cycle by over one-third while reducing trial-and-error costs. At the same time, the entire process achieved highly efficient coordination across the "process—programming—manufacturing" stages, ensuring strong alignment between the design intent and the final manufactured product.
