Changzhou Benniu International Airport handled 1.31 million passenger trips in the first quarter of 2026, up 14.63% year on year, while cargo and mail throughput reached 5,143.1 tons, an increase of 8.21%.
Passenger traffic showed steady growth, supported by a stable start in January, strong performance in February and record volumes during the Spring Festival travel rush. Key indicators such as load factors and passengers per flight also improved.
Under the summer flight schedule, which took effect on March 29, the airport has further optimized its route network, expanding both trunk and regional services.
Flights between Changzhou and Chengdu now operate seven times daily, with departure times optimized around mid-morning, forming a high-frequency shuttle service. The Changzhou–Guangzhou route runs six daily flights, further strengthening the domestic trunk network.
International and regional routes have also grown steadily. The Changzhou–Hong Kong route has been increased to daily service, while services to Macao, Nha Trang in Vietnam and Vientiane in Laos each operate four weekly flights.
On the cargo side, the airport launched its first international wide-body freighter route, linking Changzhou with Minsk in Belarus and carrying 90.47 tons of rail transit equipment, establishing a direct air cargo link to Europe and supporting exports of high-end manufactured goods.
An off-site cargo terminal in partnership with Nanjing Lukou International Airport has also been put into operation, allowing businesses to complete customs declarations locally with a single inspection process.
In addition, Sichuan tea shipments have been routed through Changzhou, further improving logistics channels for goods from western China.
In March alone, the airport handled 446,500 passenger trips, up 26.52% year on year, while cargo and mail throughput rose 23.84% to 2,070 tons.
