On May 8, the landscape painting life drawing event — themed "Conveying Heritage through Brush and Ink, Realizing Dreams through Art" — officially kicked off in Jiaoxi Ancient Town.
The event is hosted by the Changzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Art News. The series of study-and-practice activities provides a high-quality platform for landscape painting enthusiasts from across the country to engage with renowned artists.
This year's event has invited distinguished guests, including Zhang Gumin and Lin Haizhong — doctoral supervisors in landscape painting at the China Academy of Art — Xu Huiquan, Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Artists Association, Fang Xiangjun, Vice President of the Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Traditional Chinese Painting, along with nearly 40 participating artists from across the country.
Over the course of more than ten days, the master painters will lead participants through Jiaoxi Ancient Town, exploring the town's natural textures and rich cultural heritage, and capturing the serene, vibrant, and authentic atmosphere of life in the water town of the Jiangnan region.
With its deep cultural legacy and well-preserved historical sites, Jiaoxi Ancient Town offers an exceptional setting for landscape painting. The town features 15 cultural relics protection units at the provincial level, seven at the municipal level, 14 immovable cultural relics, 26 historical buildings, over 500 traditional-style structures, more than 20 ancient docks, and over 20 ancient or notable trees — all of which serve as a unique and invaluable wellspring of inspiration for life drawing and artistic creation.
