Recently, the Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology (JSAST) released the 2025 list of Provincial Science and Technology Backyards (STBs). Six such backyards in Changzhou, including the Liyang White Tea Science and Technology Backyard, were selected for the list, ranking first in the province.
In recent years, the Changzhou Association for Science and Technology (CZAST) has collaborated with agricultural universities, research institutes, and academic experts to conduct field research and provide tailored solutions for rural enterprises. Through the "science and technology + rural backyards" cooperative model, the initiative has driven rural entrepreneurship with technological innovation and boosted farmers' incomes through scientific advancements.
During the application process, CZAST took the lead in the province by organizing training workshops on building STBs. Renowned professors and experts were invited to deliver lectures and provide on-site guidance, offering strong support to agricultural enterprises, rural cooperatives, and other applicants.
To date, Changzhou has established 14 STBs, including four at the national level and ten at the provincial level. Three of them have been rated as outstanding by the JSAST and received special funding. These backyards now cover almost all regions of the city and span multiple industries, including tea, taro, sericulture, rice, fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
