Changzhou is accelerating its transition to a greener economy by developing near-zero carbon industrial parks, a move aimed at creating a collaborative energy system integrating generation, grids, load and storage.
According to a recent inspection by members of the city’s Political Consultative Conference, Changzhou has so far built eight near-zero carbon parks, seven near-zero carbon factories, and 126 micro-grid projects. Together, these initiatives are laying the groundwork for a low-carbon urban energy ecosystem.
Policy Incentives and Financial Support
The city has introduced a suite of measures to support the transition. Pilot institutes for near-zero carbon development receive policy backing, with “Sustainable Lighthouse Factories” eligible for rewards of up to 4 million yuan. Banks and private investors are also encouraged to provide financing to accelerate adoption.
Beyond funding, Changzhou is partnering with universities and research institutions to cultivate talent and strengthen technical expertise. By combining “real money” incentives with comprehensive policy packages, the city hopes to spur early movers, generate demonstrative effects, and embed low-carbon practices across industry.
