On May 12, the 2025 “Hua Luogeng Cup” Changzhou Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was officially launched at a press conference in the city.

This year’s competition, themed “United by Innovation, Advancing Towards the Future,” features three participant categories: teams, startups, and growth-stage companies. It is structured into preliminary and final rounds, with two main segments: a general competition and a set of thematic challenges.

The general competition focuses on five strategic industries: next-generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, biopharmaceuticals, and new energy and environmental protection.

Meanwhile, the thematic challenge rounds spotlight emerging frontier fields, including synthetic biology, embodied intelligence, the low-altitude economy, and commercial aerospace.

Applications are open to the public from the date of the announcement through May 30. Finalist projects will be announced in mid-July on the Changzhou Science and Technology Bureau’s website, followed by a due diligence review to confirm eligibility. The final pitch round will be held from late July to early August, consisting of three thematic challenge finals and one general final. Winners of first, second, and third prizes will be determined, with final results published in late August. A series of promotional and training events will also be held throughout the competition.

Since its launch in 2016, the competition has attracted nearly 3,600 entrepreneurial teams and tech enterprises, with approximately 320 teams having successfully established operations in Changzhou. Notable success stories include Changzhou Separation Technology Co., Ltd. To date, the competition has awarded 894 prizes, supported by 208 million yuan in government funding.
