Making a vigorous push for overseas expansion in the new year, two sets of "Changzhou-made" aqueous metal batteries have recently arrived in Australia. This marks the first batch of such batteries to be exported to overseas markets from China.
The exported aqueous metal batteries were independently developed and produced by Enerflow Innovation Technology (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. Aqueous metal batteries use a water-based solution as the electrolyte and metal compounds as the positive electrode. They are characterized by high safety, an ultra-long lifespan, a wide operating temperature range, flexible energy storage capabilities, and maintenance-free operation. These features make them suitable for a wide variety of energy storage scenarios, including power generation, grid-side applications, and user-side installations.
In October 2023, the EnerVenue Group established its first production base in China by founding Enerflow Innovation Technology (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. in Changzhou. In 2024, the company invested in building an R&D and manufacturing center for the core anode materials used in new-type aqueous metal batteries. By the end of 2025, it had successfully launched its aqueous metal battery products to the market.
"While steadily expanding in the domestic market, we are also seeing a continuous influx of orders from overseas," said Yin Haitao, Deputy General Manager of the Energy Storage Division at Enerflow Innovation Technology (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. He added that the company has already received orders from several countries, including Canada, Australia, Belgium, and the United States. The production schedule is currently very busy, with regular orders already booked through September of this year.
In response to robust market demand, Enerflow Innovation Technology (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. is forging ahead with ambitious expansion plans. The company aims to complete construction of a fully automated production line in the third quarter of this year. Once operational, this new line is expected to boost production capacity by more than 30 times compared to the current semi-automated line. Yin Haitao stated that the company will leverage Changzhou's well-established industrial ecosystem and advanced manufacturing capabilities to continuously deliver high-performance, reliable energy storage products to customers around the world.
Facing challenges such as unfamiliarity with export procedures and hazardous materials packaging during its first overseas shipment, Enerflow Innovation Technology (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. received crucial assistance from Changzhou Customs. Leveraging the technical advantages of its Hazardous Materials and Packaging Testing Center, Changzhou Customs established a specialized service team. They provided precise policy guidance, pre-assessed hazard classifications and packaging inspection standards, and utilized an "enterprise problem resolution" mechanism to help the company overcome 37 different export-related challenges.
This year, Changzhou Customs will continue to optimize the port business environment, focusing on the development needs of emerging industries in the region. Through targeted policy advisory and innovative customs clearance models, it aims to support more high-tech products in reaching international markets, helping "Changzhou Intelligent Manufacturing" seize new opportunities and achieve breakthroughs in the global arena.
