Changzhou bolsters PV supply chain with river-sea intermodal transport
Font:〖L M S

On January 23, accompanied by a long whistle, the first batch of photovoltaic glass raw sheets from the new production line of Guangxi Hepu East Hope Photovoltaic Glass Co., Ltd. arrived smoothly at the Yangtze International Yulong Warehouse located in the Binjiang Development Zone of Changzhou. This marks a critical step for the Binjiang Global Harbor for Enterprises' (CZBJ) supply chain segment in serving the regional new energy industry and officially commences the business cooperation between the two parties.

Distinct from the traditional single-mode transportation approach, this operation exemplifies the proactive exploration of diverse logistics methods by the CZBJ group. Addressing the characteristics of photovoltaic glass—being fragile, large in volume, and high in value—Yangtze International leveraged its resource integration strengths to collaborate with Minsheng Logistics in launching a new "river-sea intermodal" route, while also providing integrated logistics services such as warehousing and storage. To ensure "success from the very first order," both parties conducted specialized training, refined operational standards, and customized equipment modifications prior to warehousing, ultimately achieving a safe, efficient, and smooth commencement of operations.

It is estimated that approximately 300 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of photovoltaic glass will be completed for warehousing operations before the Spring Festival. The annual handling volume for 2026 is projected to exceed 6,000 TEUs, with a cargo throughput of nearly 150,000 tons.

The successful expansion of this business has directly introduced localized, stable, and reliable photovoltaic glass raw material supply services to leading photovoltaic enterprises in Changzhou, such as Trina Solar, EGing PV, and Solartech. This stable logistics channel will effectively alleviate the long-term supply chain bottleneck faced by Changzhou's photovoltaic industry, which has relied heavily on remote procurement. It significantly reduces the comprehensive logistics costs for regional photovoltaic companies and injects robust vitality into Changzhou's photovoltaic industry cluster.
