On November 3, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the annual list of Outstanding International Cooperation Zones for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME), and the China-Switzerland SME Cooperation Zone in the Changzhou National High-Tech District (CND) was included— the only one in the city.
The China-Switzerland SME Cooperation Zone aligns its industrial layout with the strategic priority areas jointly supported by China and Switzerland. It actively connects with the competitive industries of Switzerland and other German-speaking countries, while focusing on the district's leading sectors—intelligent equipment, precision manufacturing, carbon fiber and composite materials, biopharmaceuticals, and medical devices. Together, these efforts have shaped a distinctively Swiss-Chinese international industrial cluster in Changzhou.
The cooperation zone has achieved remarkable results in attracting investment, having brought in major projects from global companies such as Hoerbiger, Medela, Rosenberger, and KOSTAL. A series of projects have settled in the zone: In 2022, Ypsomed's medical device project was launched; in 2023, Walbourn Machinery established its presence; and in 2024, ArcelorMittal invested in the zone—marking the largest single foreign investment project in Jiangsu's history.
Through continuous exchange activities, the cooperation zone has built a distinctive brand for China–Switzerland economic and cultural exchange. With support from the Swiss Chamber of Commerce, it has co-hosted the "Swiss Entrepreneurs Visit the CND" series for five consecutive years, featuring CEO round-tables, discussions on investment opportunities and challenges, and innovation project roadshows—drawing wide attention among Swiss business circles in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Going forward, the CND will use the cooperation zone as a key platform to deepen China–Switzerland collaboration, attract targeted industrial investment, upgrade infrastructure and services, and further expand high-level opening-up—aiming to build a new model of international SME cooperation.
