On the morning of March 18, the opening ceremony of China-Austria (Changzhou) Innovation Center (CAIC) kicked off in Zhonglou District. Attending the ceremony were Christian Fuchssteiner, business consul of Austria in Shanghai; Magdalena Junez, deputy business consul of Austria in Shanghai; and Tino Terraneo, CEO of Austrian Technology Corporation. Also present at the site were municipal and district leaders from related departments in Changzhou.
With an MOU signed in May 2025, the CAIC was jointly launched by the Zhonglou District and the Austrian Technology Corporation. The center, drawing upon the technology strengths of Austria in precision manufacturing as well as Changzhou's positioning as a hub in smart manufacturing and a powerhouse in innovation, aims to promote in-depth cooperation between Chinese and Austrian enterprises in technology development and research translation. In the future, the CAIC will help to establish a coordination mechanism between Austrian projects and Changzhou enterprises, building a closed loop system in project attraction and localized development.
According to Li Desen, a leader from Zhonglou District, the opening of CAIC marks a milestone in China-Austria relations, and also a new starting point for the cooperation between Changzhou and Austria. The district government will play an active role in assisting the future planning and development of CAIC, —which is expected to become a booster in industry upgrade and a demonstration in bilateral relationship.
In their remarks, Consul Fuchssteiner and Consul Junez expressed best wishes for the CAIC, both committed to promote cooperation between Austria and Changzhou on a wider scale.
At the event, Fronius Intelligent Equipment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. delivered a technology release, and the Fronius China Innovation and Technology Training Center was officially inaugurated. Two projects—Filobodi and Taililai—were successfully launched on site, while outbound expansion projects by Joint Testing Technology and Huawei Electronics were formally signed.
In the next step, the CAIC will strive to become a benchmark in international cooperation and innovation, deliver a bunch of investment projects and radiate its influence across Jiangsu and the wider Yangtze River Delta region.
