On May 17, the 2026 International Museum Day celebrations took place in the Sanxing Village, Jintan District. Through immersive experiences and interactive exploration, kids along with their parents, got to know the pre-history civilization, while feeling the unique charm of rural tourism.
At present, the second archeological excavation is underway in Sanxing Village, where the heritage dating back to 6500 years ago was located. During the event, a promo video for the heritage site was released, showcasing the profound cultural relics and water-town landscape of the site. Meanwhile, the event also introduced the countryside leisure travel routes, unlocking new ways to experience charm of rural cultural tourism.
The creative hands-on activity at the Rice Mill was a highlight of the study camp and proved very popular among the children. Centered around the theme of International Museum Day, the children experienced rice-themed DIY activities, immersing themselves in the time-honored traditions of farming culture. After freely sketching their own impressions of Sanxing Village, they also got to enjoy a special rice milk ice cream — savoring the charm of traditional customs amidst the rustic aroma of paddy fields.
Another major highlight of the event was the archaeological experience. The children transformed into young archaeological explorers, following professional instructors as they bent down to dig, carefully searched, and gently brushed away layers of dust from simulated artifacts. This hands-on activity allowed participants to feel the weight and splendor of ancient times up close, gaining knowledge through curiosity and exploration while fully enjoying the unique wonder and joy of archaeological study.
