Changzhou is stepping up efforts to strengthen collaboration among universities, research institutes and industry as it builds a stronger innovation ecosystem. On August 15, Changzhou Science and Education Town and Southeast University signed an agreement to further develop the Southeast University Changzhou Research Institute at a seminar on the institute's development.
Established in Changzhou Science and Education Town in 2007, the research institute has built an industrial R&D base for a national engineering research center and four Changzhou key laboratories. It has undertaken more than 40 research projects at the provincial or municipal level and above, and supported more than 100 industry collaboration projects.
The institute's nearly two decades of collaboration with Changzhou have laid a solid foundation for deeper cooperation. Zhong Wenqi, vice president of Southeast University, said the university will further leverage its research strengths and talent resources to strengthen collaboration with Changzhou, with the aim of turning the institute into a regional hub for technology commercialization and supporting the upgrading of Changzhou's new energy industry.
Under the new development plan, the institute will focus on AI and new energy, hydrogen energy and fuel cells, next-generation energy storage, and the recycling of waste from the new energy industry. By bringing together the strengths of the university and the city, the institute aims to accelerate the commercialization of sci-tech achievements and strengthen innovation-driven development in the Yangtze River Delta.
