During the 2026 Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Changzhou rolled out a wide range of cultural, tourism and consumer initiatives, leveraging the popularity of the Jiangsu Football City League (JFCL) to boost visitor spending and enhance the holiday experience.

Diverse cultural and tourism activities

Major attractions across the city introduced a variety of Dragon Boat Festival-themed events.

China Dinosaur Park opened its Jurassic Water World for the summer season, while Yancheng Chunqiu Amusement Land hosted land-based dragon boat races and traditional Chinese-style markets. Tianmu Lake and Oriental Salt Lake Resort offered water-based recreation and immersive cultural experiences inspired by traditional Chinese mythology.

Museums, galleries and cultural venues across the city staged more than 100 activities during the holiday, including a Leonardo da Vinci art and technology exhibition, exhibitions featuring intangible cultural heritage (ICH) calligraphy, painting and photography, and a series of traditional Dragon Boat Festival cultural gatherings.

The city's nighttime economy also remained vibrant throughout the holiday. Night markets, outdoor bazaars and themed evening events attracted large crowds, while major shopping malls and commercial complexes jointly launched nearly 30 promotional campaigns, offering visitors a one-stop experience for dining, shopping and entertainment.

Exclusive offers for football fans and graduates

To capitalize on the growing popularity of the Jiangsu Football City League, Changzhou introduced a range of targeted promotions for football fans and young visitors during the holiday period.

Major attractions, including China Dinosaur Park and Yancheng Chunqiu Amusement Land, offered free admission, discounted tickets and special packages to match-goers and visitors from the city of Yancheng, Changzhou's opponent in the holiday fixture of the Jiangsu Football City League.

Match ticket holders were also entitled to one complimentary swimming or fitness session within seven days of the game.

Graduates taking this year's high school and college entrance examinations also benefited from special promotions, with more than 10 major attractions offering free or discounted admission.

To further boost holiday spending, the city issued 500,000 yuan worth of consumption vouchers beginning June 18, covering a wide range of retail, dining and leisure activities.

Enhanced services for visitors

The city also introduced a range of measures to improve travel convenience during the holiday period.

Four complimentary tourism shuttle routes connected major attractions across Changzhou. On June 20, the day of the football match, all city bus and metro services were free of charge. Visitors from outside the city could also ride public transportation free on June 19 and June 21 by presenting valid tourism-related receipts or admission tickets.

Eight public sports venues across the city offered free or discounted access during the holiday.

For visitors traveling by car, Changzhou opened 450 parking spaces at government facilities free of charge on June 19 and June 21. On match day, more than 5,000 temporary parking spaces — including those at the municipal government compound — were made available to the public.

Meanwhile, electric vehicle users were provided with complimentary charging services at 32 charging stations equipped with 421 charging points, helping ensure a smooth and hassle-free travel experience throughout the holiday.
