On May 23, the Second Symposium on Large Medical Models (LaMMs) convened in Changzhou, bringing together hospital executives, healthcare administrators, clinical experts, AI scientists, and industry leaders from across China. Under the theme “Innovation and Practice”, the event explored the deep integration of artificial intelligence with clinical practice and the broader transformation toward smart healthcare.
A key highlight of the symposium was the unveiling of Jiangsu Province’s first All-Diagnosis Large Medical Model Artificial Intelligence Engineering Research Centre. Jointly established by Changzhou First People’s Hospital, Changzhou University, and QuanZhen Medical, the centre is set to become a national hub for AI-driven healthcare innovation. Its mission is to enhance diagnostic efficiency, optimise healthcare resources, and accelerate the intelligent transformation of medical services by integrating academic research, clinical expertise, and industrial innovation.
Participants also visited Changzhou First People’s Hospital to witness first-hand how AI is reshaping clinical workflows. Immersive demonstrations included an AI-powered medical record generation platform, intelligent imaging diagnostics, smart wards, and personalised health management systems—illustrating how AI is being embedded across the full spectrum of patient care.
The LaMMs Symposium has quickly emerged as a leading academic platform in the field of medical AI. Its inaugural edition was held in Hangzhou last year, and the conference continues to drive national dialogue on the responsible and effective deployment of large medical models in real-world healthcare settings.
