As students across Jiangsu province prepared for university applications following this year's national college entrance examination, or gaokao, Changzhou took its tourism promotion campaign to the province's university admissions consultation event, inviting graduates to explore the city with a wide range of exclusive summer offers.

The event was held at Changzhou University on June 25 as part of Jiangsu's 2026 career guidance and university application consultation program for gaokao candidates. In line with the provincial "One Million Students Tour Jiangsu" campaign, Changzhou launched a special graduation-season tourism promotion, introducing discounted admission, free-entry offers and other travel benefits to prospective university students.

This summer, Jiangsu's culture and tourism authorities rolled out five categories of benefits for graduating students, including themed travel packages, admission rewards, upgraded discounts, study-tour programs and visitor services. Tourism departments across all 13 prefecture-level cities also joined university admissions events to promote local attractions directly to students.

Changzhou's exhibition booth attracted strong interest throughout the event. Staff introduced the city's major attractions and explained the admission discounts and free-entry policies available to graduating students. Champbow, Changzhou's tourism mascot, also made an appearance, posing for photos with students and parents, while themed souvenirs proved especially popular among visitors.

The city's graduation-season offers cover a broad range of attractions. Oriental Salt Lake Resort, Jardin Admirable Tourist Resort and Maoshan Forest World are offering free admission to this year's middle and high school graduates. China Dinosaur Park, Joyland Theme Park and Yancheng Chunqiu Amusement Land have introduced special tickets priced below 100 yuan. Tianmu Lake and Nanshan Bamboo Sea are providing exclusive one-yuan tickets for eligible students. Meanwhile, Changzhou Museum, Changzhou Grand Theatre and Jiangnan Global Harbor have launched discounts on cultural products, movies and entertainment activities.

Student volunteers Jiang Yuhan and Bu Yuhan, both freshmen majoring in Financial Management at Nanjing Tech University Pujiang Institute, helped answer visitors' questions at the event. During a break, they spotted Champbow walking through the venue and stopped for a photo.

"We originally came to Changzhou because of its strong new energy industry," they said. "But we've since discovered that the city also has plenty of great places to explore. We're planning to visit Qingguo Lane after today's event."

Another visitor surnamed Zhang, from Huai'an, said he intended to apply to Changzhou University. Having already visited Joyland Theme Park, Qingguo Lane and Maoshan Forest World, he planned to spend part of the summer at China Dinosaur Park and try the city's well-known pork trotter noodles at Shengxing Noodle House.

By bringing tourism promotion to a major university admissions event, Changzhou combined higher education outreach with destination marketing, using students' admission documents as a "summer travel pass" and encouraging more young people to study in and explore the city.
