September 5 marks the 10th “China Charity Day.” On the morning of August 26, municipal government agencies held a centralized donation ceremony for the “One-Day Charity Donation” campaign at the Municipal Administrative Center. The event aimed to mobilize and encourage broad participation in charitable causes, highlighting the power of ordinary acts of kindness to illuminate Changzhou’s identity as a “City of Charity and Love.”

Wang Jianfeng, secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee; Zhou Wei, deputy secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and mayor of Changzhou Municipal People’s Government; Bai Yunping, director of the Standing Committee of the Changzhou Municipal People’s Congress; Ji Peidong, chairman of the CPPCC Changzhou Municipal Committee, and other senior officials of the city’s leadership attended the event.

They took the lead in donating, while representatives of municipal departments actively participated in the project, putting charity into practice and advancing a culture of philanthropy. The campaign will run until October 31, with fundraising results to be announced publicly upon its conclusion.

This year marks the 19th “One-Day Charity Donation” campaign in Changzhou. Mayor Zhou emphasized that Party members and officials should take the lead in practicing the core socialist values, integrating the spirit of charity into their daily work and life, and inspiring others through their own actions. They should also engage closely with local communities, listen to the voices of people in need, understand their pressing concerns, and better align charitable resources with public needs. Charitable organizations at all levels should strengthen supervision over the entire process of fundraising, management, and utilization, consciously accept public oversight, and ensure that every donation is transparently managed and put to the best use. They should also expand participation channels to encourage more social organizations, caring enterprises, and citizens to contribute, thereby fostering a strong social atmosphere for charitable engagement.

Over the years, the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and the Changzhou Municipal Government have attached great importance to the development of philanthropy. As of the end of July 2025, the city’s charity federation system had raised a total of 5.044 billion yuan in donations and supplies, directly disbursed 3.241 billion yuan worth of funds and materials, and provided assistance in more than 7.473 million cases of people in need.
