As the number of new energy vehicles (NEVs) continues to climb, China’s second-hand NEV market is also experiencing rapid growth. Yet the lack of specialised testing methods has long plagued used car dealers and consumers, making it difficult to assess key metrics such as battery health and real-world range. Now, Wujin District in Changzhou has taken the lead by launching Jiangsu Province’s first professional NEV testing centre—the Dr. Cha After-Sales Assurance Centre—within its used car trading market. This marks one of only three such specialised NEV testing facilities across the country.

Unlike traditional petrol vehicles, NEVs derive their core value from the "three electric" systems—battery, electric motor, and electronic control unit. However, until now, most used car dealers have relied on rudimentary tools and subjective judgement to assess vehicle condition, leaving key indicators like battery degradation and driving range largely unverified and increasing transaction risk.

Developed by renowned Chinese vehicle inspection platform Dr. Cha, the centre is equipped with state-of-the-art tools, including smart connectors supplied by battery giant CATL and specialised instruments for air-tightness and fluid leak detection. These technologies ensure accurate, trustworthy evaluations of NEV conditions.

In addition to standard checks for accident damage, fire, or flood exposure, the centre offers a comprehensive suite of NEV-specific diagnostics. These include: physical inspection of the “three electric” components, detection of battery safety risks, evaluation of battery health, and identification of abnormal battery degradation.

Since its founding in 2010, the Wujin Used Car Trading Market has upheld principles of honesty and regulated sales. It has grown into the largest second-hand car market in Jiangsu and ranks among the top 100 nationally. With the integration of professional NEV testing services, Wujin is now poised to strengthen its leadership position and offer consumers a safer, more transparent car-buying experience.
