Changzhou-based battery maker CALB has climbed to third place worldwide in installed electric vehicle battery capacity, overtaking South Korea’s LG Energy Solution for the first time, according to October data released by research firm SNE Research.
The ranking places CALB behind only China’s CATL and BYD, marking the first time that the top three global battery suppliers are all Chinese companies.
SNE Research data show that CALB’s installed battery capacity reached 6.83 gigawatt-hours in October, up 76.5 percent year on year and 14 percent month on month, the fastest growth rate among major global players.
The surge reflects CALB’s targeted product positioning, expanding range of applications and accelerating global expansion. Headquartered in Jintan district of Changzhou, the company now operates 13 manufacturing bases worldwide, including facilities in Changzhou, Xiamen, Chengdu, Wuhan and Guangzhou, as well as sites in Europe and Southeast Asia, supporting large-scale and flexible delivery.
CALB’s products are used across multiple segments, including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, energy storage systems, vessels and emerging aerial mobility platforms. The company is also advancing next-generation technologies aimed at future transportation scenarios.
Supported by China’s National Key Research and Development Program, CALB is leading the development of high-safety, high–energy-density cylindrical batteries. The technology is expected to be first applied in next-generation flying vehicle models developed by Xpeng Aeroht.
CALB has completed the third phase of construction at its Changzhou manufacturing base.
