The 2026 Conference on Technological Innovation and High-Quality Industrial Development was held in Changzhou on August 29. China Securities Journal joined forces with the city to establish a cross-regional collaboration platform bringing together industry, academia, and finance, pooling high-level resources to propel Changzhou's continued ascent as a "trillion-yuan economy," accelerate further industrial upgrading, and reignite innovation-driven growth.

Changzhou is a key pillar in Jiangsu's broader push to build an internationally competitive manufacturing hub and a globally influential center for scientific and technological innovation. The city is currently accelerating the development of its "10+28" industrial system and is strategically positioning itself in the "6+X" future industries, with a focus on artificial intelligence, embodied AI, synthetic biology, and other frontier areas. Seizing the historic opportunity presented by AI, Changzhou is driving large-scale adoption across a wide range of scenarios—from industrial manufacturing to public services and urban operations—underpinned by an "AI agents plus application scenarios" approach.

At the conference, Wu Zhongze, former member of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Science and Technology, suggested that efforts should be made to build AI-native organizations, delve deep into vertical scenarios, strengthen enterprise-led collaboration with academia and research, uphold safety guardrails, and explore replicable and scalable models to achieve high-quality development.

Yang Yonggang, chairman of Sinofibers Technology Co., Ltd., stated that the company's next step is to shift from selling materials to selling solutions, with a vertically integrated strategy to enhance its capacity for original innovation and build global competitiveness.

Zhang Dan, co-founder and co-chairman of Jiangsu Hillgene BioPharma Co., Ltd., focused on the biopharmaceutical sector, predicting that AI will play a greater role in new drug discovery and clinical trials.

Under the theme "The Path to Value Creation Through Sci-Tech Innovation," representatives from Konfoong Materials, Beijing Strong Biotechnologies, Tiansu Technology, and EllipSpace (Beijing) Technology engaged in in-depth discussions, sharing their experiences and insights from innovation-driven practices.

Translating technological innovation into productive forces requires an efficient and collaborative industrial ecosystem, supported by a steady flow of financial resources. A parallel investment and industry matchmaking session was held alongside the main conference, where representatives from enterprises and financial institutions engaged in detailed discussions on business collaboration and investment opportunities in Changzhou's Xinbei district, focusing on two key sectors: smart high-end equipment and AI computing infrastructure. The event brought together supply and demand on a single platform, facilitating targeted connections across the industrial chain.

More than 300 guests attended the conference, including board chairpersons, general managers, and senior executives from listed companies, pre-IPO firms, and financial institutions across the country.
