On June 11, Zhou Wei, deputy secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and mayor of Changzhou Municipal People’s Government, met with a delegation from the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies led by Gilles Baum, president of the Democratic Party's (DP) parliamentary group.
During the meeting, Mayor Zhou warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the continued support from Luxembourg. He noted that despite the geographical distance, Changzhou and Luxembourg have successfully built close connections through robust economic partnerships and cultural exchanges.
He highlighted several Luxembourg-invested projects currently operating in Changzhou, with steel giant ArcelorMittal serving as a prime example of successful collaboration. Zhou proposed enhancing bilateral cooperation in several key areas including new energy vehicle, steel manufacturing, green and low-carbon development, artificial intelligence, and cultural tourism. He suggested establishing more landmark joint projects while increasing people-to-people exchanges between the two sides.
During the talks, Baum commended Changzhou's impressive innovative dynamism, observing that Luxembourg and Changzhou share significant strategic alignment in industrial development approaches and a mutual dedication to open economic policies. The delegation leader expressed keen interest in strengthening collaborative exchanges across diverse sectors. He particularly emphasized the importance of increasing people-to-people exchanges between the two sides, believing such interactions would substantially deepen mutual understanding and forge enduring friendships.
