Three projects led or joined by companies based in Changzhou have been selected for the 2025 China Intelligent Manufacturing Top Scientific and Technological Advances, underlining the city’s growing strength in smart manufacturing.

The selected projects involve Hongda Intelligence Technology, NR Electric, and Luhang Technology, reflecting Changzhou’s innovation capabilities across sectors including advanced equipment, rail transit and power systems.

Hongda Intelligence Technology was recognized for a project focused on digital and intelligent systems for textile dyeing and finishing, which introduced AI-based fabric-setting models and real-time inspection technologies. The solution addresses long-standing challenges in the dyeing industry such as high energy consumption and low first-pass yield. It has been deployed by hundreds of companies in China and overseas, significantly improving production efficiency and product quality while supporting the industry’s green and low-carbon transition.

NR Electric was selected for its intelligent factory for grid-forming power equipment, which integrates artificial intelligence with digital twin technologies to enable flexible manufacturing characterized by multiple product types, variable batch sizes and short delivery cycles. The project has been included in China’s first group of national excellence-level smart factories. As a leading company in the sector, NR Electric has also driven coordinated upgrading across nearly 1,000 firms along its industrial chain.

Luhang Technology, in collaboration with Southwest Jiaotong University, was recognized for its onboard active safety systems for high-speed train running gear. The project achieved breakthroughs in condition monitoring and intelligent diagnostics under complex operating conditions, with fault early-warning accuracy exceeding 98 percent and significantly longer lead times for major fault alerts. The systems have been widely applied on China’s mainstream high-speed trains as well as overseas projects including the Jakarta–Bandung High-Speed Railway, substantially enhancing operational safety.
