On June 29, the China-Netherlands (Liyang) Science and Technology Innovation Park was officially inaugurated. Attending the opening ceremony were Sachi Claringbould, Deputy Consul General of the Netherlands in Shanghai; Bian Zhaolun, Deputy Secretary General of the Jiangsu Provincial Government; Wang Jianfeng, Party Secretary of Changzhou and Zhou Yong, President of SOHO Holdings Group. Also present at the site were corporate representatives from the Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, the UK and the UAE.
In her remarks, Ms. Claringbould extended congratulations on the opening of the Park. According to her, Changzhou, with its competitive strengths in new energy and smart manufacturing sectors, has become a favored destination for outbound investment of European enterprises; while on the other hand, the Netherlands boasts abundant experience and industrial solutions in circular economy and sustainable development. It is her hope that the two sides can leverage the Park to deepen ties and exchanges, promoting pragmatic cooperation in new energy and high-end manufacturing based.
Changzhou and the Netherlands have jointly built an aviation industrial park, and opened a steady, efficient logistics channel via the Sino-Europe railway express. For years, governments at all levels in Changzhou have continuously improved business environment to attract leading Dutch enterprises. Arlanxeo and AkzoNobel have taken root and thrived in the city, becoming a benchmark for foreign-funded companies in Changzhou.
With the Liyang Provincial High-Tech Zone as its core, the China-Netherlands (Liyang) Science and Technology Innovation Park has a spatial layout of one center, one platform and one base. Drawing upon the Netherlands as a connectivity hub, it focuses on resources from key European countries including Germany, France and Italy. The Park aims to promote trade and economic cooperation in fields like new energy battery, smart manufacturing, high-tech agriculture, as well as the integration of culture, commerce and tourism.
At the opening ceremony, twelve projects signed agreements to settle in the Park, ranging from smart energy storage, precision manufacturing to embodied intelligence and innovative drugs. In addition, several international agencies established their offices in the Park.
