On April 30, Dawning Semi Technology Co., Ltd. officially signed an agreement to settle its R&D and manufacturing base into the Wujin National High-Tech Zone. The premier semi-conductor project, with a total investment of one billion yuan, will drive the regional AI computational power and high-end telecommunication sector, injecting strong impetus to the local semi-conductor industry.

Founded in July 2020, Dawning Semi Technology Co., Ltd. is led by many senior experts in the fields of semiconductor, silicon photonics and finance, committed to building silicon photonics leading technology platform, and striving to promote global 5G network, data center and digitalization process.

For the rapid implementation of strategic planning in the field of silicon photonics, in October 2021, the company completed the acquisition of 100% stake in Sicoya GmbH., building the dual Sino-German R&D system.

In April 2025, the company relocated its headquarters to the Wujin National High-Tech Zone, advancing the development of its supporting facilities and production lines of high-speed silicon photonic communication chips. The complete industry carriers in the Phase I Industry Park of Longcheng Silicon Valley provides strong support for the company's future capacity expansion and technology commercialization.

Dawning Semi Technology has more than 10 years of technical accumulation and reserve in the field of silicon photonics, with a complete IP portfolio of its own design devices, and a fully integrated silicon photonics technology.

It boasts a sound patent system. Core technologies cover a variety of products and application fields, from wireless communication, data communication (optical engine & optical module), server network, intelligent driving, lidar, bio-sensing and other areas of technology reserves and business cooperation. At present, the company has more than 50 authorized silicon optical invention patents worldwide, and more than 50 patents are under application.

The project signed this time mainly focuses on the R&D of high-speed and low-power-consumption silicon photonic chips, which can be applied to multiple scenarios including consumer electronics and bio-medicine. Upon entering production, the project is expected to generate an annual sales revenue of two billion yuan, with a tax revenue of 200 million yuan.

As of date, nearly 60 companies have clustered in the Wujin National High-Tech Zone, 16 of which are enterprises above designated size - with an output value of 11.55 billion yuan in 2025. Among them are representative companies including Vertilite, Quectel, and ChemSemi. The signing of Dawning Semi Technology will address the weaknesses in the industrial chain of the Wujin District, particularly in key areas such as high-speed silicon photonic chip design and optical engines. It will foster upstream and downstream coordination with existing enterprises in the zone specializing in optical communications, packaging and testing, and precision manufacturing. This will help extend the industrial chain toward higher value-added segments and support the zone in establishing itself as a hub for the integrated circuit industry.
