On 12 September, Wang Jianfeng, Party Secretary of Changzhou, met with Maximilian Butek, Chief Representative at Delegation of German Industry and Commerce Shanghai, and other distinguished guests attending the 2025 “Jiangsu-Germany Dialogue” event. Also present were Wang Yupeng, Deputy Director-General of the Department of European Affairs at China’s Ministry of Commerce, and Pan Dongling, Vice Mayor of Changzhou.
Secretary Wang extended a warm welcome on behalf of the municipal government, noting that since the first German enterprise invested in Changzhou in 1992, the city and Germany have maintained a strong record of practical cooperation in trade, culture, education and city-level partnerships. Germany, he said, has become Changzhou’s most important trading and investment partner within the EU, with the Sino-German (Changzhou) Innovation Industry Park now home to numerous “hidden champion” companies.
He highlighted that the “Jiangsu-Germany Dialogue” event, now in its fifth year, has become a vital platform for bilateral cooperation, adding: “We sincerely hope to work hand in hand with our German partners to advance technological innovation and industrial collaboration, deepen integration across innovation, industry and supply chains, and drive the transformation of industries toward higher quality, smarter and greener development — sharing opportunities and writing a new chapter of cooperation.”
The German representatives praised Changzhou’s strategic location, strong industrial base, pro-business environment and innovative ecosystem, describing it as an ideal destination for German investment in China. They expressed hopes to further strengthen cooperation in industrial innovation and green development, yielding greater mutual benefits.
Since LEONI (Changzhou) Electronics Co., Ltd. established the city’s first German-funded enterprise in 1992, Changzhou has attracted 269 German-invested enterprises, while local firms have invested in 59 projects in Germany. The Sino-German (Changzhou) Innovation Industry Park, as a key platform for bilateral collaboration, now hosts over 70 companies from German-speaking regions, including Zimmer Group, MD Electronics, Festo, and Rausch & Pausch, with total investments exceeding €2.3 billion.
