On January 29, the Huadao departed from the New Yangtze Terminal at Changzhou Port, bound for Germany with 92 pieces of wind power equipment on board. The shipment marked the first batch of wind power equipment exported from the port in 2026.
The cargo was transported entirely by water, using inland vessels to transfer the equipment to an ocean-going ship. At the loading site on January 28, a 600-ton floating crane was seen lifting a wind turbine tower section weighing about 70 tons. The shipment included 75 wind turbine tower sections, each weighing between 60 and 90 tons.
Despite the close berthing of the transfer vessel and the seagoing ship, each lift took between 30 and 50 minutes, according to Chen Jinxiang, the on-site lifting supervisor. “Before each lift, the transfer vessel needs to reposition itself, which means moving away from the dock and berthing again,” he said.
To facilitate the shipment, the Changzhou Immigration Inspection Station strengthened vessel inspections and adjusted staffing arrangements, implementing a 24/7 inspection system. The measures allowed ships to begin operations immediately upon berthing and depart without delay, shortening port turnaround times and helping companies reduce logistics costs.
