The Hurun Research Institute recently released the Global Unicorn Index 2025, a ranking of the world’s unicorn companies—startups founded since 2000, valued at over one billion U.S. dollars, and not yet publicly listed.
Four companies based in Changzhou made the Index, ranked by valuation as follows: SVOLT Energy, AAC Optics, Star Charge, and Trina Storage.
SVOLT Energy Technology Co., Ltd., headquartered in Jintan district, is a high-tech new energy company specializing in the R&D and manufacturing of automotive power batteries and energy storage systems. In 2024, its power battery shipments exceeded 600,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 90%, placing it among the world’s top ten power battery suppliers by shipment volume.
AAC Optics (Changzhou) Co., Ltd., located in Xinbei district, is a global leader in optical products and solutions. It ranks among the world’s top three in the smartphone optical lens market and maintains long-term strategic partnerships with major global smartphone brands.
Wanbang Digital Energy Co., Ltd. (Star Charge) is a leading Chinese provider of new energy vehicle charging infrastructure. The company has participated in the formulation of all domestic charging standards in China and has also represented China in drafting IEC international standards. In 2024, it shipped over 2 million charging piles, ranking first globally in cumulative charging pile sales over the past decade.
Trina Power Co., Ltd., based in Xinbei district, delivers original distributed photovoltaic (PV) system solutions for households, along with customized PV solutions for commercial and industrial clients.
