The first-ever Lithium-Ion Battery Professional Committee under the Patent Protection Association of China (PPAC) was officially launched in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, on August 28. This specialized committee, dedicated to safeguarding intellectual property in the lithium-ion battery sector, was spearheaded by the Changzhou-based CALB Technology Group, marking a significant milestone for the industry.

Lei Xiaoyun, vice president and secretary general of the PPAC, noted that lithium-ion batteries, as a core component of the new energy sector, represent a patent-heavy industry. To advance the sector’s innovation and value chains, robust intellectual property management is essential.

The newly established committee, under the guidance of the PPAC, was co-founded by CALB and the Guangdong Zhongce Intellectual Property Research Institute. It brings together key players in the industry, including Sungrow, Gotion High-Tech, Trina Storage, and the Institute of Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, alongside leading intellectual property experts.

This initiative provides a vital platform for collaboration on technological innovation and intellectual property protection within the lithium-ion battery sector. Its goals include accelerating the commercialization of patents, ensuring the stability and security of the industry’s supply chain, enhancing China’s global competitiveness in lithium-ion batteries, and driving high-quality development in this critical industry.
