Recently, the Changzhou-based LBM New Energy Technology Company has announced that its subsidiary, LBM Asia-Pacific, has signed a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) cathode materials supply agreement with CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd.), worth more than ¥6 billion. The deal marks another milestone in the company’s expanding global presence as its overseas production capacity rapidly scales up.

Under the agreement, LBM Asia-Pacific will supply 157,500 tonnes of LFP cathode materials meeting CATL’s specifications to its overseas factories between Q2 2026 and 2031. Based on current market prices, the total contract value is estimated to exceed ¥6 billion—enough material to power over 13,000 new-energy vehicles with 60 kWh batteries each.

To gain an early foothold in the global market for new-energy materials, LBM New Energy Technology Company launched the construction of its Indonesian plant in 2021. The first-phase project, with an annual capacity of 30,000 tonnes of LFP cathode materials, commenced production earlier this year, marking the company’s first overseas facility to go live. The second-phase project, designed for 90,000 tonnes, is now under full construction and is expected to complete by the end of this year, ensuring sufficient capacity for future international orders.

Amid surging global demand for lithium-iron-phosphate materials, companies along the new-energy supply chain are increasingly adopting “coordinated go-global” strategies. Since the start of 2025, LBM’s Indonesian plant has secured a series of long-term contracts with major international players, including LG Energy Solution, Ford Motor Company, and EVE Energy, consolidating its position in the global EV and battery industry.
