The National Development and Reform Commission has recently released the list of 53 county-level areas designated as key regions for comprehensive ecological compensation. Wujin district stands as the only area from Changzhou to be included in this significant national roster.
As an important component of the coordination zone for the eco-green integrated development demonstration zone in the Yangtze River Delta, Wujin district serves as a crucial ecological node within both the Taihu Lake Basin and the Yangtze River Economic Belt. In recent years, the district has actively pursued its strategic goal of building an "Ecological Lakeside Area," making consistent progress in environmental governance and ecosystem restoration. These sustained efforts have yielded notable improvements in both the quality and stability of local ecological systems.
Looking ahead, Wujin district will accelerate the revision and refinement of its ecological compensation implementation plan in accordance with directives from national, provincial and municipal authorities. The district will focus on leveraging its regional strengths to clearly define priority tasks for eco-compensation, enhance the functionality of ecosystem services, and comprehensively advance the green transformation of its overall economic and social development.
