On June 18, a networking event marking the launch of the Zhonglou District Online Content Creators Alliance was held in Nandajie subdistrict. A group of content creators and social media influencers gathered to exchange ideas and experiences in digital storytelling, helping bring the charm and everyday life of Zhonglou’s historic urban quarter to wider online audiences.

“I’m from the UK, and I chose to create content here because I want to build a bridge,” said content creator David. “I hope to help British audiences discover the relaxed pace of life in Zhonglou’s old neighbourhoods, while also showing Chinese audiences how a foreigner experiences everyday life here. I want to grow alongside this city.”

David was among 12 creators who shared their personal stories of producing content in Zhonglou. Their presentations reflected a strong connection to the district and a genuine passion for exploring and promoting its historic urban areas.

The event also officially launched the Zhonglou District Online Content Creators Alliance. Participants received alliance badges, marking the beginning of closer collaboration between local creators and the district in promoting positive and engaging online content.

A special “Content Creation Challenge” was held during the event, with participants drawing topics for future projects.

“My topic is ‘The Old Town Through a Time Machine’,” said creator Hu Entai. “Travel content is my specialty, so I plan to dig into the story of Changzhou Asia Film & TV Town, a historic cinema complex, and create a documentary-style video that traces its history and transformation over the years.”

Three themed guide maps were also released, highlighting cultural landmarks, historic alleyway walking routes and local food recommendations across Zhonglou’s old town. The maps are designed to provide inspiration and practical guidance for content creation.

“I became a Changzhou Youth Ambassador last year and have been documenting the city ever since,” said creator Hu Die. “When I started, I barely knew how to operate a camera properly. Now my filming skills have improved significantly, and I increasingly enjoy communicating with the city through my lens.”

In recent years, Zhonglou has integrated digital resources from government agencies, cultural and tourism institutions, industry organizations and local communities. The district has established a database of online influencers and launched an alliance dedicated to promoting positive online content, bringing together MCN agencies, industry associations and university media teams to form a collaborative network of creators, organizations and platforms.

The district has also partnered with leading local MCN agencies to develop dedicated creator studios at venues including the Changzhou Digital Economy Industrial Park. By providing workspace, business matchmaking services and other support, Zhonglou aims to attract more creative talent and continue building a youth-friendly urban district.
