On 12 September, the 2025 “Jiangsu-Germany Dialogue” event was held at the Sino-German (Changzhou) Innovation Industry Park, bringing together new and long-standing partners from both countries to discuss low-carbon development and green transformation.

Attendees included Shi Mingde, President of the China-Germany Friendship Association and former Chinese Ambassador to Germany; Zhou Wei, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Changzhou; and Maximilian Butek, Chief Representative at Delegation of German Industry and Commerce Shanghai.

In his remarks, Mayor Zhou welcomed the guests and highlighted that Germany remains Changzhou’s most important partner in the EU in terms of trade, investment and cooperation. He noted that following President Xi Jinping and Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s meeting in May, China and Germany have entered a new phase of their comprehensive strategic partnership. Against the backdrop of global green transition, Zhou said, “Green and low-carbon transformation is not only a shared mission for humanity but also a key bridge connecting Changzhou and Germany. Germany is a global leader in this field, while Changzhou is a dedicated practitioner. Deeper cooperation between us will yield fruitful results.”

He added that Changzhou would continue to uphold an open, inclusive and pragmatic approach, offering investors and partners high-quality services and strong policy support, “to jointly chart a new blueprint for low-carbon development and a new chapter of win-win cooperation.”

Speaking at the event, Shi Mingde commended the city’s achievements in advancing multi-sector collaboration with Germany, encouraging Changzhou to further promote industrial and innovation cooperation and to strengthen cultural and people-to-people exchanges. “The China-Germany Friendship Association will spare no effort to help both sides broaden cooperation and deepen mutual understanding,” he said.

During the event, nine projects were signed, covering sectors such as power tools, automotive interiors, smart cockpits, medical devices, aviation services, high-end moulds, advanced lighting, electron-beam welding equipment and woodworking machinery, further expanding the foundation for China-Germany industrial cooperation in Changzhou.
