Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) has officially opened its Global Alumni Home in Changzhou’s Zhonglou district, marking a new chapter in its longstanding relationship with the city. The inauguration ceremony, held at the historic residence of Sheng Xuanhuai—a prominent industrialist from Changzhou and founder of the university’s predecessor, Nanyang College—was attended by Yang Zhenbin, secretary of the university's CPC Committee, along with a delegation of university officials.
During the ceremony, Yang emphasized the significance of the Global Alumni Home, describing it as a symbolic place for alumni worldwide to reconnect with their roots. He highlighted its role as a hub for strengthening alumni bonds, fostering innovation, and building a global network of support. The center will also serve as a platform for collaborations between the university and Changzhou, focusing on resource sharing, industry-education integration, and joint talent development.
The Global Alumni Home aims to provide a welcoming and dynamic space for a variety of activities, including research exchanges, career development, dialogue forums, and entrepreneurship incubation. It will play a crucial role in advancing talent and industry integration, driving local innovation, and supporting project development. This initiative is seen as a key component of SJTU’s broader strategy to deepen ties with its alumni while exploring new avenues for university-community partnerships.
