On May 10, Changzhou Transportation Construction Management Co., Ltd. announced that the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission has formally approved the preliminary design and cost estimate for the Jintan–Wujin section of the Nanjing-Changzhou Expressway (the "Ningchang Expressway").

The Jintan–Wujin section of the Ningchang Expressway is 30.19 kilometers long. It starts at the interchange with the Yangle Expressway, heads east through Huangli Town in Wujin District, crosses Gehu Lake, then goes beneath the Yancheng–Taizhou–Wuxi–Changzhou–Yixing Railway (currently under construction), overpasses the Jiangyi Expressway, and terminates at the interchange with the Huchang Expressway, connecting directly to it. Supporting infrastructure consists of the Gehu East Service Area (including gas stations), three toll plazas, one maintenance and obstacle-clearing work area, and the necessary traffic engineering and roadside facilities.

The project is scheduled for a four-year construction period. It will be built to a two-way, six-lane expressway standard, with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour and a roadbed width of 34.5 meters. A total of 11 bridges are planned along the route, of which four are extra-large bridges.

Upon its completion, the Ningchang Expressway will enhance the expressway network in southern Jiangsu, bolster the connection between Nanjing and Changzhou, and contribute to high-quality regional economic growth. Going forward, the relevant authorities will continue refining the design and work to begin construction as soon as possible.
