Recently, Nanjing Agricultural University and Changzhou Centuryred Food Technology Co., Ltd. signed a 10-year cooperation agreement covering the entire radish industry chain. Under the agreement, the two sides will jointly establish a Radish Industry Research Institute, with the aim of building a leading innovation and commercialization platform for the radish industry in the Yangtze River Delta and a first-class platform nationwide.
The collaboration represents a two-way integration of agriculture and technology. Nanjing Agricultural University has extensive expertise in the exploration of radish germplasm resources, molecular breeding, and cultivation technologies. Changzhou, meanwhile, has a well-established radish planting and processing industry, backed by a century-long cultivation history, unique varietal resources, and traditional processing techniques recognized as intangible cultural heritage.
The two sides will focus on five key areas: germplasm innovation and improved variety breeding; the integration of green and efficient cultivation technologies; post-harvest processing and new product development; industrialization and brand building; as well as talent and team development. Particular efforts will be devoted to breakthroughs in seed-source innovation and the development of a modern radish industry innovation system integrating breeding, propagation, promotion, production, processing, and sales.
On the same day, the New Countryside Development Institute of the Nanjing Agricultural University established a specialized industry base in Wujin District, Changzhou.
