Changzhou recorded steady industrial growth in the first quarter of 2026, with the output value of industries above designated size increasing by 5.7 percent year-on-year and industrial value-added up 6.3 percent year-on-year, marking a good start for the year.

The city made new progress in advancing its manufacturing sector toward higher-end, greener and smarter development, laying a solid foundation for high-quality growth.

Driven by breakthroughs in core technologies and frontier industrial layouts, the high-tech manufacturing sector reported an 18.3-percent year-on-year output increase, contributing 3.6 percentage points to the overall industrial output growth. Its share in the city's total industrial output rose to 22.3 percent, up 1.6 percentage points from the same period last year.

The power and energy storage battery sector posted a 26.7-percent output growth, pulling up overall industrial output growth by 2.6 percentage points, supported by expanded production capacity of leading manufacturers.

Boosted by global AI development and power grid upgrades, local manufacturers of transformers, high-speed cables and other power equipment ran at full capacity, achieving 16.1-percent output growth that added 1 percentage point to industrial output growth.
