April 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the Changzhou Foundation for Justice and Courage. Over the past three decades, the Foundation has persevered through challenges while recognizing countless ordinary citizens who have demonstrated extraordinary courage in times of crisis, embodying the true spirit of selfless heroism. This milestone was commemorated with a press conference on April 3, reviewing three decades of achievements in promoting bravery and social responsibility.

Three decades of impact

Since its establishment in 1994, the Foundation has:

  • Recognized 121,000 acts of bravery
  • Distributed 119 million yuan in recognition funds
  • Honored 9 martyrs posthumously
  • Commended 77 national and provincial-level heroes
  • Acknowledged 704 municipal-level heroes, including 6 Changzhou Moral Models

National recognition

The Foundation's work has earned high-level praise, with Jia Chunwang, former chairman of the China Foundation for Justice and Courage, commending its role in "upholding social morality and safeguarding justice." In 2022, Changzhou presented its innovative "Promoting Justice and Courage to Strengthen Social Governance" model at the 8th National Conference on Urban Social Governance.

Institutional support

The Foundation's work remains integral to Changzhou's governance framework, with the city's Reward and Protection Committee for Acts of Courage – established in 2019 and involving 15 government departments – continuing to standardize recognition procedures and coordinate multi-sector support for heroic acts.
