Wang Jianfeng, secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, met with Zhang Jinyuan, senior vice president of real estate at Walmart (China) Investment Co., Ltd., and his delegation on July 4. The two sides held in-depth discussions on strengthening cooperation.

On behalf of the CPC Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government, Wang extended a warm welcome to Zhang and provided an overview of Changzhou’s economic and social development. He noted that Changzhou, a key central city in the Yangtze River Delta, enjoys distinct geographical advantages and a dynamic consumer market. In response to the growing demand for consumption upgrading, the city is enhancing its urban capabilities by cultivating new business models, consumption scenarios, and retail formats. These efforts aim to stimulate sustained, expanded, and upgraded consumption, unlocking domestic demand potential to further drive high-quality development.

Wang emphasized that Walmart, as a leading global omnichannel retailer, has a strong foundation and broad prospects for cooperation with Changzhou. He expressed hope that Walmart would deepen its presence in the local market, leveraging its platform and brand strengths to innovate retail models and expand high-end business formats, thereby offering more premium consumption choices for Changzhou residents. He reaffirmed the city’s commitment to high-level opening-up and its efforts to foster a first-class business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized—offering solid support for enterprises pursuing high-quality development.
