September 2025 marks China's first National Science Popularisation Month, launched under the theme "Enhancing Scientific Literacy for All, Building a Strong Foundation for a Technology Powerhouse".
On 1 September, Changzhou held its flagship event at Tianning Junior High School, under the title "We Love Science, Innovation Builds the Future". The event was attended by Long Lehao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Chen Zhiliang, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and head of the Publicity Department.
Professor Long delivered a thought-provoking "first lesson of the new school term" entitled "China's Rockets and Spaceflight". He encouraged local students to be courageous and ambitious in serving the nation through science and technology, to study diligently, embrace innovation in practice, maintain physical fitness, and strive for all-round development—becoming the backbone of China's future as a science and technology powerhouse.
At the ceremony, representatives of science volunteers issued a "Science Volunteer Initiative", calling on researchers and practitioners across the city to actively champion the spirit of volunteerism, lead in science outreach, spread knowledge, and set an example in service delivery—collectively advancing high-quality science popularisation.
The event also saw the Wujin Academicians Museum officially recognised as a provincial base for the promotion of scientists' spirit. Following the ceremony, leaders and guests visited the touring exhibition marking the centenary of the birth of aerospace pioneer Zhuang Fenggan.
