From November 19 to 22, the government delegation of Gonghe county in Hainan Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Qinghai province visited the city of Changzhou. On the evening of November 19, Chen Jinhu, vice secretary of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and mayor of Changzhou Municipal People’s Government, received the delegation led by Chen Honglin, secretary of CPC Honghe County Committee and member of the Standing Committee of CPC Hainan Prefecture Committee.

City leaders Bai Yunping, Zhou Changming, Liang Yibo, Zhang Yaogang and Dai Shifu accompanied the delegation during their visit to a number of places, including Changzhou Big Data Industrial Park, China-Europe (Changzhou) Inspection, Testing and Certification Industrial Park, Trina Solar Limited, Wujin Water Plant, Changzhou Hualida Garments Group, the Yuejin village of Jiaze town, the Oriental Salt Lake Resort and First Farm in Jintan district, the villages of Niumatang and Qingfeng, and Caoshan Tourist Resort. A series of promotion activities was held at the Global Harbor in Xinbei district to display Gonghe’s achievements in poverty alleviation and advertise the county’s tourism programs and local specialties.

Changzhou has been playing an active role in poverty alleviation in Hainan Tibetan autonomous prefecture, Qinghai province.

Gonghe was paired with Changzhou in August 2010 under the "pairing assistance" program launched by the central government, which requires more prosperous provinces and municipalities in East China to lend support to less developed regions of the country.

This year, Changzhou has donated 21.14 million yuan to support Gonghe in tackling poverty. To date, the city has sent a total of 18 young officials to the county to offer support in economy, education, healthcare and agriculture. Twenty primary or middle schools and five kindergartens in Changzhou have been paired up with the schools across the county, taking the lead in the promotion of “hand-in-hand” interschool exchanges and cooperation.

Gonghe has made remarkable strides in poverty relief under the high patronage of Changzhou in the past decade. It is hoped that this visit will allow the county to learn more from the city’s successful practices in rural revitalization, industrial transformation and science and education innovation, said Mayor Chen Jinhu, adding that these days’ promotion activities will further boost the cooperation between the two sides as more entrepreneurs from Changzhou will choose to invest in Gonghe.
