Recently, the recreational pathway system in the urban area of Liyang designed by Changzhou Municipal Planning and Design Institute has been initiated.

The project covers a length of 36.09 kilometers, covering non-motor vehicle lanes, sidewalks and green belts along the roads, including Qingxi Road, Nanhuan Road, Aoti Boulevard, 104 State Road, Yanshan Road, Tianmu Road, Nandajie Street, and Yanshan Road.

Through the program, some partially damaged non-motor vehicle lanes and sidewalks will be reconstructed; accessible facilities of sidewalks will be improved; special paint will be sprayed at intersection range, eye-catching signs of bike will be painted to identify the priority; and the system of ground and mounted traffic signals will be improved. The whole project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

This program is specialized for pedestrians and cyclists as a recreational route along natural and artificial corridors like green belts, watercourses, ridges, roads, etc.

Liyang, as one of China's Excellent Tourist Cities, will head towards the goal of China Habitat Award through the pedestrian- and cyclist-freindly road system.
