On the evening of February 28, the New Year’s Reception of "2019 Changzhou-Shanghai Economic and Trade Week" was held in Shanghai. Over 100 guests from well-known enterprises and institutions in Shanghai in the fields of industry, commerce, finance, science and technology, and consulting attended the event.

Wang Quan, Secretary of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, delivered a speech. Ding Chun, Mayor of Changzhou Municipal People’s Government, hosted the reception.  

Wang Quan said in his speech that the regional integration and development of the Yangtze River Delta has become a national strategy; in the future, the Yangtze River Delta region will become the Asia-Pacific gateway for global resource allocation and a world-class city cluster with global competitiveness. Shanghai is the leader of the City Cluster Plan for Yangtze River Delta, with its talent pool, technology intensity, strong capital and unlimited business opportunities. Shanghai not only has a prominent position in the overall opening-up pattern of the country, but also provides a strategic opportunity for the integration and development of other cities in the Yangtze River Delta. As a key part of the City Cluster Plan, Changzhou will firmly grasp the historical opportunities, fully connect with Shanghai and integrate into the Yangtze River Delta, deepen exchanges and expand cooperation with Shanghai in various fields such as economy and trade, industry, transportation, education, culture and tourism, in order to achieve active, accurate and effective integration. The First is to deepen industrial cooperation. Changzhou will actively cooperate with Shanghai in the development of key industrie, integrate into Shanghai’s industrial chain and support Shanghai's industrial transfer, in order to achieve complementary advantages and coordinated development, and better promote industrial transition to the high end of global industrial chain and value chain. The second is to deepen the cooperation in science and technology innovation. Changzhou will better promote the practice of "science and technology innovation in Shanghai, production and manufacturing in Changzhou", so that more “flowers of science and technology” in Shanghai will turn into “the fruits of industry” in Changzhou. The third is to deepen financial cooperation. Changzhou will encourage more enterprises to get listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, actively guide Changzhou's high-tech enterprises to seize the opportunity of the upcoming launch of the Science and Technology Board, accelerate the equity division reform, and create an influential "Changzhou plate" in the capital market. The fourth is to deepen cooperation in culture and tourism. Inheriting the city’s historical culture and highlighting the characteristics of natural resources, Changzhou has fully launched the tourism brands of “Buddhist Attractions, Waterfront Gardens, Amusement Parks, and Delicious Food” to improve the visibility and influence of the city.

Jacob Paul, Senior VP of Medtronic, and Lu Yongtao, General Manager of SAIC Capital, made speeches at the event and expressed their confidence in the investments in Changzhou.
