On August 8, the project of Schweizer Electronic (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. with a total investment of 270 million US dollars was started in Jincheng Science and Technology Industrial Park of Jintan District.

The project covers an area of 214 mu (about 14.27 hectares), including a new plant covering 134,000 square meters. The project is wholly owned by Schweizer Electronic Aktiengesellschaft, and will be completed and put into production in December next year. It is expected to reach an annual production capacity of 1.26 million square meters of packaged circuit boards (PCBs), with an annual sales income of 750 million US dollars and tax payment of 100 million, providing about 1,200 jobs.

Since its foundation on October 28, 1849, Schweizer Electronic can look back on a unique company history and, in the meantime, is lead by the 6th generation of the Schweizer family. The company is the third biggest PCB manufacturer in Europe and stands for one of the most modern manufacturing sites for high complex PCBs.

The global PCB market achieved sales of 62.1 billion US dollars in 2017, thereof 49.2% in China, 12.6% in Taiwan, 11.6% in South Korea, 8.4% in Japan and 6.7% in Thailand and Vietnam together. America’s PCB sales amounted to 5% of the total turnover, Europe achieved 4% and the rest of the world 2.4% of global PCB sales. After two years of declining sales, the PCB market thus showed a 6.9% growth for the first time in 2017. With regards to the global sales, the market is dominated by the 3 ‘C’s (computing, communication and consumer), but it predominantly serves the segments Industry, Automotive and Aviation in Europe.

Schweizer Electronic (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. is so far the largest foreign-invested electronic project launched in Jincheng Science and Technology Industrial Park. At the investment promotion event held on the same day, a number of German-funded enterprises reached cooperation intentions with the industrial park.
