In August this year, Changzhou Port was approved as a designated port for grain import, which will significantly reduce the logistics costs and delivery times.

On the afternoon of Sept. 11th, the first batch of Vietnamese glutinous rice arrived at the port, weighing 500 tons, with the total value of 215,000 US dollars. The inspectors took samples on site and sent them to the laboratory for further examination.

Under the influence of population growth and food processing industry development, Changzhou has become a typical grain sales area. Last year, the city's total grain purchase reached 750,000 tons. The annual grain supply and demand gap was over 700,000 tons. The grain consumption dependence on other places reached 50%.

It is learned that after this batch of Vietnamese glutinous rice, there will be soybeans, sorghum and other grains imported to Changzhou Port. It is expected that next year, the port’s imports of various types of grain will reach over 100,000 tons, which will save costs of 2 million yuan for grain trade enterprises.
