The upgraded China-Chile FTA came into force on March 1, 2019. It is learned from Changzhou Customs that up to now, 25 new-version certificates of origin have been issued, with a total amount of US$1.9932 million, benefiting Changzhou's photovoltaic, electromechanical and flooring manufacturing industries.

The upgraded China-Chile FTA will see the number of items exempt from tariffs increase to cover up to 98 percent of all items, according to China’s Ministry of Commerce. China has also said that it will gradually eliminate tariffs on some wood products from Chile over three years. Meanwhile, Chile will immediately eliminate tariffs on Chinese imports, such as textiles and clothing, home appliances, and sugar products. In recent years, Chile has benefited from rising Chinese demand for its agricultural exports, such as fruits and meat.

It is reported that Changzhou Trina Solar's products are exported to more than 100 countries and regions around the world, with Chile as its main export destination. In January and February this year, Changzhou Customs has issued seven certificates of origin for its solar modules exported to Chile, with a total amount of nearly $4 million.
