On the evening of September 30, Changzhou hosted the National Day reception in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Wang Quan, secretary of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and director of the Standing Committee of Changzhou Municipal People’s Congress, Ding Chun, deputy secretary of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and mayor of Changzhou Municipal People’s Government, Yu Zhiping, chairman of CPPCC Changzhou Municipal Committee, and other city leaders as well as over 200 representatives from all sectors of society attended the reception.

Wang Quan addressed the reception while Ding Chun presided over the reception.

Wang expressed gratitude and appreciation to the heroes, role models, retired leaders and comrades who have made valuable contributions to the Chinese Communist Revolution, the development of China and the reform and progress of Changzhou. He also extended his best wishes to the CPC members, local cadres and the people in the city, to members of the democratic parties, various social organizations and people from all sectors of society, to the PLA soldiers and PAP guards stationed in Changzhou, and to all friends at home and abroad who have supported the development of Changzhou.

He said that the glorious path we have taken in the past 70 years has shown the political advantages of the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics. We will unite more closely around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core and confidently advance along the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. At president, Changzhou has entered the critical period of accelerating its development. We will proactively follow the major development strategies such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the Yangtze River Economic Belt Strategy, the Yangtze River Delta Region Integration Strategy and the Shanghai Metropolitan Area Plan. We will spare no efforts in building Changzhou as a star city of industry, tourism and management. We will benchmark Germany, integrate into Shanghai and go global, so as to take the lead in shifting to high-quality development. To achieve this goal, we need the whole city and all sectors of society to carry forward the Changzhou spirit of ‘always strive to reach the top, and be ashamed of staying in the second class,’ remain true to our mission and work hard to achieve it. We also need friends from home and abroad to join us for mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, to share development opportunities and to create a better future.
